Biography
Professional career
- Prior to becoming a judge he maintained a general litigation and mediation practice with the law firm Helgesen, Waterfall, and Jones, while concurrently teaching constitutional law as an adjunct professor in the Criminal Justice Department at Weber State University.
Judicial service
- Preceding his appointment to the district court, he served as a Justice Court Judge for the cities of Harrisville, Riverdale, South Ogden, South Weber, and Woods Cross.
- In 2011, he was elected to the Board of Justice Court Judges, and later chaired the Board for four consecutive terms. 7/19
- Judge Reuben J. Renstrom was appointed to the Second District Court in March 2019 by Gov. Gary R. Herbert.

Portable Electronic Devices
Utah permits possession and use of portable electronic devices in courthouses unless limited by UCJA Rule 4-401.02 or by directive of the judge.

Recording Photography Transmission
Utah prohibits recording, photographing, or transmitting images or sound of court proceedings with portable electronic devices unless allowed under the electronic-media rule or another stated exception.
